NOTE! Do not spray in the presence of the cat. Do not spray on the cat.
The effect of the Feliway spray lasts approximately 2–5 hours. Store at room temperature.
Preventing urine marking
Wash the areas the cat has marked with a mild detergent. Spray the Feliway spray on the areas marked with cat urine and other protruding and therefore attractive places for the cat once a day.
Continue using the spray until the cat starts rubbing its head on the treated areas. This may take from a week to a month.
Note that the use of cleaning or disinfecting agents may cause the cat to mark exactly the areas cleaned with them. If the desired result is not achieved with the product, contact a veterinarian.
Other situations
• If the cat only marks during heat, treat the areas where it goes outside and the walls under the windows once a day
• Urine marking may be more extensive if there are several cats in the household. In this case, treat the areas marked with urine with the spray 2–3 times a day and other possible areas once a day.
• Older cat: Treat the areas marked by the cat once a day for 5–6 weeks and then every other or third day for as long as necessary.
New environment
In a new environment, prevent possible urine marking by treating the areas that may attract the cat with the spray once a day.
Preventing scratching
The cat's scratched areas are treated with the spray once a day. At the same time, a permitted scratching area should be offered to the cat in the immediate vicinity of the previous area.
Calming the cat in a foreign environment
• Carrier: Treat the carrier twice with the spray 15 minutes before putting the cat inside.
• Car: Treat the cat's place in the car with the spray 3–4 times before the trip.
• Cat hotel: Treat the corners of the cat's cage or similar daily with the spray before putting the cat inside.
Continue treatment until the cat starts rubbing its head on these areas.
Additional information
Pheromones are chemical substances that animals secrete to mark their territory and communicate with other animals of the same species.
A cat marks its environment with its facial pheromones by rubbing its cheek against an object. Pheromone marking makes the cat feel safe and calm. Pheromone marking also prevents the marking of places with urine. A cat does not mark a place with urine that it has marked with facial pheromones. A cat makes urine markings when a change occurs in its environment that causes the cat uncertainty (e.g., a new home, interior design, family member, animal).
A cat makes urine markings according to a specific pattern:
- chooses a vertical surface
- digs into it with its paw
- turns its back towards the chosen place
- raises its tail and directs the stream of urine onto the surface.
Ask your veterinarian for advice before use.
