- Chronic renal insufficiency
- Liver disease associated with hepatic encephalopathy
- Conditions requiring dietary sodium restriction

Not recommended for use in the following cases:
- Conditions requiring a diet high in protein and phosphorus
- Growing, pregnant or nursing dogs

- Low phosphorus content helps slow the progression of kidney disease
- A moderate amount of high-quality protein helps maintain muscle mass and reduce the accumulation of harmful metabolic waste products in the body
- Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce renal hypertension and inflammation
This diet does not acidify the body, helping to minimise the metabolic acidosis associated with renal insufficiency. It helps limit the formation of calcium oxalate stones and maintains a neutral urine pH (6.7–7.5). It helps limit the formation of urate and cystine stones. It contains a moderate amount of high-quality protein. The food is palatable, helping promote long-term compliance, including in patients with a poor appetite or anorexia.
